CONTEST RULES
How to Win – Select 15 players from five groups of players (three players from each group). If your players hit more Home Runs than anyone else – you win!
Game Rules – Groups A, B, C and D consist of ten players each. Group E consists of all players not in Groups A, B, C, or D. A recommended list of players for Group E will be provided, but write-ins are allowed for Group E only.
There are no substitutions during the season. Your team on Opening Day is your team for the season. If one of your guys gets hurt, gets suspended, gets benched, gets convicted of perjury, gets sent to the minors, goes missing on a month-long bender to Tijuana, starts dating Jessica Biel, retires, or just plain stinks for whatever reason, that’s too bad. It is the responsibility of the entrant to verify a player’s playing status before the season begins.
The only Home Runs that count are those hit by players in Major League Baseball during the MLB Regular Season. Spring Training HR, Minor League HR, Japanese League HR, and California Penal League HR do not count. The MLB Regular Season is defined as the 162 game season schedule plus any tie-breaker play-in games to determine MLB playoff teams. Home Runs hit in either the World Baseball Classic, MLB Home Run Derby, MLB All-Star Game, MLB Divisional Playoffs, MLB League Championship Series, and MLB World Series Home Runs do not count. Really – I get questions about this.
Ties – In the case of entrants having an equal number of Home Runs at a prize level, the ratio of At Bats to HR will be used to break the tie. AB/HR ratio is defined as the number of At-Bats for an entrant divided by the number of HR for said entrant. For Example; 581 AB divided by 58 HR gives a AB/HR ratio of 10.02. The lower AB/HR ratio wins the tiebreaker. If a tie still exists after applying the AB/HR ratio (to 3 decimals), the prizes for the positions will be summed and divided equally among the involved entrants. The “Fight to the Death” tiebreaker has been rescinded for 2007 and beyond.
Prizes – Prizes are guaranteed for the Top Three Finishers in the following categories: First Half (through the All-Star Break), Second Half, and Full Season HR Totals. First Places – $150; Second Places – $100; Third Places – $50. Prizes are also guaranteed for the top finisher in each of the five groups. All payouts will be made in October.
Standings Reports – Standings will be updated online on a weekly basis (Monday morning) and possibly more often.
Miscellaneous – Multiple entries permitted. Incomplete or invalid entries will be disqualified from entry and all monies will be refunded. All taxes on prize winnings are the responsibility of the winners. Contest void where prohibited by law.
Commissioner has final authority on all matters.
