On Wednesday, a Tyrannosaurus Rex invaded U.S. Cellular Field, home of the Chicago White Sox.

Somewhere, Crazy Carl Everett is spinning in his grave. Oh wait, he’s not dead – but he might soon be after his head explodes.
Why? Well, a few years back, the former Marlins-Mets-Astros-Red Sox-Rangers-White Sox-Expos-Mariners OF/DH said the following …
“The Bible never says anything about dinosaurs. You can’t say there were dinosaurs when you never saw them … No one ever saw a Tyrannosaurus rex.”
And Everett believes that Dinosaur bones were “made by man.” Well, Carl … what IF you saw them?
Here’s video of Dinosaurs walking around at The Cell.

First, ESPN.com called Jim Thome’s 3-Run Home Run last night a Grand Slam (I mean a BOOYAH!).
But that’s not where the bad reporting ended on Jim Thome Home Runs this morning. Because Yahoo! Sports can’t figure out how many career Home Runs Thome has.
From the Yahoo! Game Recap …
Thome followed by hitting a 0-1 pitch opposite field to left, his 22nd homer of the season and 429th of his career, giving the White Sox an early 3-0 lead.

Sheesh … even Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander knew that Thome has already hit 500 Home Runs. 529 to be exact.
But what’s the difference between 429 and 529 Home Runs?
Besides a call from the Hall of Fame.

Last night, the Chicago White Sox beat the Detroit Tigers on one swing of the bat by Jim Thome. Thome blasted a 3-run shot in the bottom of the first inning, which gave the White Sox a three run lead which they never relinquished, winning 5-1.
ESPN.com has a name for a three-run bomb like that … “Grand Slam“.
What? You though Grand Slams were Home Runs hit when the bases were loaded and worth four runs?
ESPN.com begs to differ.
Here’s the proof, before ESPN fixes it.

The World Wide Leader needs to hire better headline writers, if you ask me.
What’s it called when you hit a Home Run with the bases loaded? A Super-Sized Grand Slam?
Home Run Derby’s going to call it a BOOYAH from now on.
Update: Rats. Deadspin caught that before I did. Belated Hat Tip.
Double Update: Yahoo Sports doesn’t know how many career Home Runs Thome has.
