Facebook.  Everybody’s doing it. 

Facebook is a great way to keep up with friends, reconnect with old ones you forgot about, constantly update people about the excruciating minutiae in your life, and avoid doing any work.

But it would appear that Facebook doesn’t love everyone.  Namely, one Allan H. Selig.  Also known as Bud Selig, the current commissioner of Major League Baseball.

Yes, I know that Facebook page almost assuredly doesn’t actually belong to Bud Selig.  Or this one.  Or this one (which lists former NBA commissioner David Stern as Bud’s only friend.  More likely, they’re all fake Facebook pages under the name ”Bud Selig.”

But there are a bunch of Facebook Groups who don’t like Bud Selig … and here’s some of them.  But be warned … some of them have some NSFW names.

You know, with the Cubs out of the playoffs – I was kinda leaning towards cheering for the Tampa Bay Rays the rest of the way.  And why not?  They’ve been a great story this season and it would just be another expansion team to make or win the World Series since the Cubs have gone to the October Classic.

But now .. I’m not so sure about that.  Scratch that – I don’t want them to win a single game against the Red Sox.  Why?  

Because of this shirt. 

Go Red Sox.  

And that’s not a fan-made T-Shirt.  That’s an official Tampa Bay Rays (and MLB) endorsed product. 

Act like you’ve been there before.  Even if you haven’t.  And don’t count your pennants before they fly.  I hated those stupid “It’s Gonna Happen” shirts and signs at Wrigley Field all summer long. 

It’s tempting fate … actually, it’s taunting fate.  

Mind you, I do like the color of the shirt.  It’s well documented that I love Powder Blue.  

But I’m just gonna stick with my original prediction from 10/29/2007 … the Red Sox will win the World Series.

There’s lots of reasons to go to a Major League Baseball game …

But sometimes, that’s just not enough to make you pay $40 for a ticket and drink a beer for $7, especially if the team sucks … and MLB Teams know it.  So they offer trinkets and bawbles to get your butt in a seat.  Yep, we’re talking promotions and giveaways.  And we usually fall for it.

The majority of these handouts are overdone retreads of stuff like t-shirts and floppy hats and plastic doodads like keychains and flashlights and bobbleheads.  Bobbleheads are great, but unless you’re the table in front of Mike and Mike or Mottram and Steinz, how many do you need?

But sometimes, the team’s marketing squad does something creative … here are the best ones you can try to grab in 2008.

Now this is cool.  In a state with 10,000 lakes, you’re gonna need something to catch bass with when the Twins are on the road.   

Mind you, I’m not sure how many times an MLB team has given away anything with six sharpened barbs on it before.  This could be a one-and-done event, because you just know someone’s gonna lose an eye from this thing.  Given out to the first 5,000 fans over the age of 18.

No boys, this will not help you catch anything like Mauer’s ex-girlfriend, former Miss USA Chelsea Cooley.  No girls, this will not help you catch Joe Mauer.
