Okay, when I say “popular demand” … I mean the two people who emailed me asking what the heck happened to the Baseball Mascot Tournament.
We’ll pick up where we left off last year in the second round with what might be one of the most anticipated showdowns of the tournament. One which is sure to whet your appetite.

The Presidents bum rushed the Padre in the Mascot Battle between Church and State … so it’s time for another Mascot Bracket Showdown.
We’re headed back to the aviary (the Feather Division) for a second round showdown between two feathered NL Central mascots who like biting female fans (and who doesn’t?)
#1 – Pirate Parrot (Pittsburgh Pirates) vs #5 Fredbird (St. Louis Cardinals)

The Home Run Derby Standings have been updated.
In the Second Half chase, new faces rule the leaderboard.
Led by the awesomely named Evil Toast, who leads the 2nd season with 66 Home Runs. The Croatian Sensation (65 HR) trails ET by a single HR with the 62-HR triumverate of the Quebec Nordiques, Snowmashers, and GLUCK FU! in third place.
For the big money, Belichoke is back in the overall lead with 437 Home Runs. He’s followed by Team Minivan (342 HR), and Sultans of Swat (337).
Sultan will have a hard time holding off five teams right on his heels.
Some Friday reading for you:
And it looks like the Nat-o-Sphere came through … as their Racing Presidents are gonna trounce the Swingin’ Friar in the 2nd Round of Mascot Brackets, barring a late comeback from the Pad Squad. A new Mascot Showdown will be live on Monday.
Until then … I’ve got a great seat for the ballgame tonight.

The Phillie Phanatic came back from an early deficit to slaughter Southpaw last week, so it’s time for another Mascot Matchup.
Let’s head to the Primate bracket, where we’ve got a transcontinental showdown between two last place teams with first-rate mascots. To make things more interesting … it’s a battle between Church and State.
#2 - Swinging Friar (San Diego Padres) vs #6 – Racing Presidents (Washington Nationals)
Your vote decides who moves on!!

We here at Home Run Derby are big fans of the Milwaukee Brewers’ Racing Sausages (sponsored by Klement’s – we’re big fans of them too … Yum!)
But we had no idea they were so talented. Because they can ski.

Back on March 2, 2008, the Sausages were part of Wilmot Mountain’s Annual Winter Carnival.
Home Run Derby is proud to bring you your first look at video of the Famous Racing Sausages … On Skis …
