There’s something missing from the Topps KC Royals team card …

So I was checking out some 2007 Topps baseball cards the other day … and for some reason, the Kansas City Royals’ cards caught my eye.
Well – one card in particular. It wasn’t a Mark Grudzielanek, Mark Sweeney, or even the elusive Jimmy Gobble card that caught my eye …
It was the team card. You know, the one with the team picture on the front and the team checklist on the back. You usually flip right past that one …
Except this card was missing something …

Like … the 2007 Kansas City Royals? Where are they? Did Topps expect the Royals to be in last place again this season? Hey look – the Royals are in last place.
It appears that two things happened this season.
- Topps didn’t get a photo of the team in Spring Training
- Neither did the Royals
Of course, ESPN.com covered this earlier this year, but I missed it then – so you might have too. And ESPN didn’t give you a picture either.

I believe they left the players out because if you dont spend at least $25 Million in salary you can not have your own card. Maybe if the royals add a few names Topps will feel they should make one with the players in the actual photo.
