The Cubs haven’t hit a Home Run since Aramis Ramirez got goosed

The Cubs have played nine Games and tallied 303 At-Bats in the month of July with a collective .270 batting average, a .330 slugging percentage, and absolutely zero Home Runs.
What a bunch of Stonecutters. Stonecutters = “No Homers” for the Simpsons-illiterate. And they’ve been useless if you’ve got them in our little Home Run Derby contest.
However, the Cubs are 6-3 during their Homer-less July. Mind you, five of those wins came against Pittsburgh, Washington and Houston. Not exactly world-beaters.
The Cubs have played most of their July games against clubs with a propensity to give up the Home Run …
- Houston – 113 HR Allowed, 2nd most in National League
- Washington – 94 HR Allowed, 3rd most allowed in National League
- Pittsburgh – 87 HR Allowed, 8th most in National League
However, the Cubs have played seven of those games in RFK Stadium (4) and PNC Park (3). Those two Ballparks rank 28th and 30th on Home Run Derby’s Ballpark Analysis for Home Runs hit over the last three years. And the wind was blowing in at Wrigley today.
The Homer-less streak actually goes back into June for a total of ten games. The last Home Run the Cubs hit was the walk-off shot by Aramis Ramirez back on June 29th vs the Brewers. I’m sure you remember that one … it was when Cesar Izturis jammed his arm elbow deep into Ramirez’ taint during the dugout celebration.
Remember that? Well here it is again …
So since Cesar Izturis goosed, fisted, or whatever you want to call what he did to Aramis Ramirez … the Cubs haven’t hit a Home Run.
I can’t say I blame them.

First the goat and now this?
If you can’t bring your favorite barnyard animal to the park and you can’t stick your fist up another man’s ass at Wrigley, what good is it?
Wait, that came out wrong…

First the goat thing and now this?
If you can’t bring your favorite barnyard animal to the park and you can’t stick your hand up another man’s ass, what goos is Wrigley Field anymore?
Wait, that sounds bad…

Behold the power of Home Run Derby. It seems the post lit a fire under the Cubs.
Now can we please see some Home Runs out of Nick Swisher?
Also, maybe an updated post on the curse of the World Series Rings for the Cardinals?
If the power holds true to the site, don’t post on Bonds! Let him slump his way to retirement.
