With only three days left, Four teams are vying for three First Half money spots in The Derby … and it couldn’t be any closer at the top.
Master-Batters has reclaimed a share of the overall lead with Triple Crown and M-B has the better AB/HR ratio by a wide margin (16.7 to 17.8), breaking the 255 Home Run tie. I think that M-B or 3C has locked up at least Second Place with an 8-HR lead over third place. I’m posting the players who are different on their squad again …
| Group | Triple Crown | The Master-Batters |
|---|---|---|
| A | Andruw Jones | David Ortiz |
| B | Carlos Lee | Manny Ramirez |
| C | Jason Bay | Richie Sexson |
| D | Chase Utley | Pat Burrell |
| E | David Wright | Barry Bonds |
| E | Grady Sizemore | Gary Sheffield |
The third place battle is still hot as well, as the Defending Champion (1908 Cubs) has returned to the leaderboard (247 HR) for the first time since last season thanks to Adam LaRoche’s big day yesterday. However, The Great Hambino (245 HR) owns a slightly better AB/HR ratio (17.64 to 17.8) and only needs to make up two HR to tie 1908 and bring home the First-Half Prize for 3rd Place.
| Group | The Great Hambino | 1908 Cubs |
|---|---|---|
| A | David Ortiz | Travis Hafner |
| B | Manny Ramirez | Aramis Ramirez |
| C | Justin Morneau | Matt Holliday |
| C | Vladimir Guerrero | Richie Sexson |
| D | Pat Burrell | Adam LaRoche |
| E | David Wright | Grady Sizemore |
There’s been movement at the bottom of the standings too … as Annimals have at least temporaily relieved the Ball Busters of DFL. Annimals have zero Home Runs through the first four days of this week – the first time that’s happened this season.
