See….the tresspass wasn’t the original charge…..that I know is a felony. I was not arguing that.

He was just charged with illegal conduct within sports facilities……a misdeamenor. Your original post seemed to imply this was a felony. It is not.

An Elmwood Park man was taken into custody again Friday and faces more serious charges for running onto Wrigley Field toward relief pitcher Bob Howry during the ninth inning of Monday’s Cubs-Rockies game.

Brent Kowalkoski, 24, has been charged with one count of felony criminal trespass to a place of public amusement, said Chicago police officer Tom Polick. Kowalkoski remained in police custody Friday evening and was scheduled to attend a bond hearing Saturday, authorities said.

Kowalkoski was arrested Monday and charged with illegal conduct within sports facilities, a misdemeanor. He spent the night in the Belmont District lockup and was released Tuesday morning. The misdemeanor charge was the result of a new state law for which the White Sox lobbied extensively after two incidents involving trespassing fans at U.S. Cellular Field.

Howry had just surrendered a three-run home run to Troy Tulowitzki, giving the Rockies a 9-8 lead, when Kowalkoski vaulted the short wall that separates the seats from the playing field and approached Howry from the first-base line. Wrigley Field security guard Anton Migursky tackled Kowalkoski before he could get to the pitcher, and additional security removed him from the field.

Separately, a fan who ran onto Wrigley Field during a Cubs game June 1 was charged with the same felony Thursday, police said. Kevin Kleine, 22, of the 0-100 block of Thornfield Lane in Hawthorn Woods “ran out on the field because his friends paid him $400 to do it,” said Andy Conklin, spokesman for State’s Atty. Richard Devine.

Kleine previously had faced lesser charges of trespassing and possession of cannabis, Conklin said.

His bail was set at $20,000 Friday, Conklin said.
