Obama called the White Sox’ stadium “Cominskey Field”

So President Obama is a big fan of the Chicago White Sox.
Or so he tells and shows us. Over and Over.
Like last night during the All-Star game when he wore his White Sox jacket to throw out the first pitch (not so sure I liked that) and told Joe Buck and Tim “Corpse” McCarver he was a fan of the White Sox.
Not to mention a few times on the campaign trail last spring, summer, and fall. And an interview on ESPN where he took a few digs at Cub fans.
But if he’s such a big White Sox fan, why doesn’t he know the name of their home stadium?
Case in point: President Obama referred the White Sox’ ballpark as ”Cominskey Field” during an interview on MLB TV with Bob Costas. It used to be called Comiskey Park.

“I do think that there’s a different quality to what used to be Cominskey Field vs. Wrigley”
Oh boy. That’s like calling the Cubs’ stadium “Wrigley Park” instead of “The World’s Largest Outdoor Bar.” A White Sox fan would rip a new backside into any Cub fan who did that.
Even if he had said “Cominskey Park”, I could see it as a slip of the tongue. But Cominskey FIELD? Obama moved to Chicago in 1985. Back when the old Comiskey Park was still around.

No, he is just another fan not giving into the corporate sponsorship. I know lots of fans who refuse to use the corporate sponsor name and refer to the park as Cominskey.

Dear Bill –
Please stop being such a douchetard apologist and just admit that the President got it wrong.
It was called “Comiskey Park,” not Kaminsky Field.
Sox fans call it COMISKEY.

He’s masterfully playing both sides of the debate as any good politician would … Comiskey Park + U.S. Cellular Field = Comiskey Field. Both sides can claim a small victory. War over.

I’m with Bill. Grew up all over the south side and many people call it Cominskey, Sox Park, Comiskey Park, Cominskey Field..I’ve heard it all. And ALL from Sox fans who refuse to give into the corporate sponsorship name that is U.S. Cellular Field (aka the cell).

Unlike the President, I am a lifelong, died in the wool Sox fan. I was actually more curious about nosebleed seats at Old Comiskey Park. The upper deck was closer to the field than Wrigley Fields upper deck. They weren’t nosebleeds.

Obama could have done worse. He could have shown up to the All-Star game singing the Nationals’ praises.

Personally I dont think our president should be even involved w/ the allstar game festivities, and I’m a big baseball fan. White sox are garbage. Redsox all day. BEANTOWN = TITLE TOWN

I’ve been a White Sox fan for over 25 years – I have NEVER heard Old or New Comiskey be called “Cominskey Field”. What a fraud.

Derek is a gay name. Probably voted for Obama too. Or, maybe just a pussy.

South Park is a series that much about it because the topics are considered taboo and often turned to derision, but also why we love him so much ^ ^
