Home Run Derby’s MLB MASCOT BRACKETS IS BACK!!
Okay, when I say “popular demand” … I mean the two people who emailed me asking what the heck happened to the Baseball Mascot Tournament.
We’ll pick up where we left off last year in the second round with what might be one of the most anticipated showdowns of the tournament. One which is sure to whet your appetite.
#1 Racing Sausages (Brewers) vs #5 Racing Pierogies (Pirates)
Racing Sausages are the original “Racing” mascots in all of Professional Sports and defended their #1 Seed in the Critter Division by grinding up Rangers Captain. And they’re a perfect mascot for a Beer and Sausage Town like Milwaukee.
There’s five of them. Hot Dog, Bratwurst, Italian, Polish and Chorizo. They’re sponsored by Klement’s, a Milwaukee-based sausage manufacturer.
The Sausages have spawned countless “Racing Mascot” imitations around MLB and as we’ve shown you before, the Sausages are absolutely multitalented … The Sausages can Ski, The Sausages can Ice Skate, The Sausages can Race Cars …
And they can dance the Macarena too …
On to the Pierogi …
Pittsburgh was the first MLB team to make a knock-off of the sausages, and they did it pretty well by anthropomorphizing some pierogi – which reflect the city’s Slavic heritage. The Pierogies made it to the Second Round by kicking off Righty and Lefty, the walking Red Sox socks.
There’s a bunch of pierogi – Sauerkraut Saul, Potato Pete, Jalapeno Hannah, Oliver Onion, and Cheese Chester, all sponsored by Mrs. T’s. They occasionally race the Sausages and the Washington Nationals’ Presidents.

Not to be outdone by their opponents … here’s the Pierogi dancing to “Peanut Butter Jelly Time”

Hey I was kissed by Mr. Red at the 2006 allstar game here in Pittsburgh. I wasn’t sure what to think about that I was hoping there was a hot chick inside but somehow I doubt it.
