Billy Corgan blames Eddie Vedder for the collapse of the 2008 Cubs

Earlier this year, Eddie Vedder - the lead singer of Pearl Jam and a former Chicago native – released “All the Way” – a catchy Irish Drinking Tune about the Chicago Cubs fans and how somehow, someday, the Cubs will win the World Series.
Here it is …
Pretty good.
But as a lifelong Cub fan, I cringed a mighy shiver when I heard that song. In my gut I knew that we could kiss the Cubs 2008 title hopes goodbye.
And lo, combined with the Cubs’ pre-playoff cover of Sports Illustrated … the Cubs’ futility ododmeter across from Wrigley rolled over to 100.
Well, last night (11/19/08) during a break at the Smashing Pumpkins show at the Chicago Theater, lead singer and fellow Cub fan Billy Corgan waxed poetic about the Bears winning the Super Bowl in 2012, Mike Ditka coming out of retirement, and his beloved Cubs, while getting in some digs at White Sox fans – telling them to stay the F*ck out of his Cubs Fan conversations.
Then Corgan said that he might write a song about the Cubs …
God Bless Steve Goodman, but I think I can do better than ‘Go Cubs Go’
Really – I’ve been called a lot of things, arrogant is one of them. I don’t think this is arrogance. I think I can top ‘Go Cubs Go’
Still on the subject of Cub-themed songs … Corgan did what someone should have done a long time ago … he blamed Eddie Vedder for the Cubs’ 2008 playoff collapse.
If … If … IF … the Cubs did have a chance this last year that just passed … Fuckin’ Eddie Vedder killed that shit dead. Last I checked Eddie ain’t living here, Okay?
Eddie ain’t living here to write a song about my fuckin’ team.
Damn Right.
And we’ve got some bootleg video from the show, with part of the song “Disarm.” WARNING – There are lots of F-bombs in this … probably not work safe unless you’ve got headphones.
Begun, the Brooding Cub Fan Lead Singer Wars have. We await response from Eddie Vedder.

I really think Billy Corgan really expressed what most Cubs fans are feeling and thinking right now. The eddie vedder song “All the Way” will go down in history with all the curses that we all know to well and would like to forget -
The Billy Goat, The Black Cat, My personal favorite Steve Bartman “the longer you hide the worse your beating will be” , and now Eddie Vedder’s “all the way” goes in the exclusive club. Sure it was fun singing in a drunken lather as we were racking up the wins in the summer but now when the song is played the reactions are more likely “Turn that sh*t off idiot” or “How dare you, a**hole”, short sweet and to the point. Time to delete the song off your ipod, burn the cd’s and 45’s , and don’t ever ever think its cool to play that song again!! Thanks again Billy for standing against one of rock’s best talent’s who was obviously trying to do a great thing but in reality singlehandedly derailed what was to be the greatest World Series celebration in the history of world series celebrations and it being the 100 year anniversary since the last one and the stars were alligned and everything but you Eddie Vedder , shame on you eddie, shame on you!!

So, Eddie Vedder walked all those Dodgers and not Ryan Dempster? Eddie Vedder committed four errors – one at each infield position? Eddie Vedder turned our offense ice cold? Me thinks not…

Eddie wrote that song before the season even started anyway. And at least Eddie is appreciative of his fans. Billy was a cry baby ungreatful bitch during the chicago shows and I’ll never give that cry baby another cent.

Um, has Cubs Genius Billy Corgan ever heard “A Dying Cubs Fan’s Last Request” ??
Didn’t think so.

Corgan should write his own tribute song before pissing on someone else’s tribute song. At least Vedder made the effort and in my opinion it’s a pretty good effort at that.

Eddie wrote that song many years ago, which he explained at the Vic show in 2007 when the song first was played live. There is no fucking curse. The Cubs choke every year and will continue to choke for many more. Cubs fans are pathetic just like their franchise.

Everyone knows Obama killed the Cubs.
We’re all White Sox fans now.

Sorry but I didn’t see Vedder down on that field with a hat & glove on. And I don’t believe in hexes. These so-called curses are just a cop-out for a team that just plain choked. I just posted a blog earlier this week that listed the weirdest superstitions in baseball and the Cubs are on the list (http://myteamrivals.typepad.com/phightin_phils_phorum/2008/11/strange-baseb-1.html ). How about we all quit blaming everyone else and live in peace? Too much to ask? Here’s what I believe in: Peace, Love and Baseball :O)

Gee Billy Corgan cursed the Smashing Pumpkins. Corgan is a freaking baldy headed poorly vocally talented media whore. This guy will do almost anything for some sound bytes in the main stream media. Vedder shuns that attention, funny enough.
Oh and the media market where Eddie Vedder’ solo, Pearl Jam records, and tickjets sell the best over the last decade????…………PHILLY!
And speaking as a life long Pearl Jam fan and long suffering Phillies fan.
WE WON!
Vedder didn’t Curse the cubs, the fans curse the cubs by yapping about curses!
Just put a statue of William Penn on top of the highest point in your city!

Eddie Vedder>Billy Corgan…
Blame Ed Ved for the Cubs failures…sure, that’s like blaming James Iha for the original demise of the Pumpkins…
At least your team won’t spend a kajillion dollars and still not win it all like mine does…maybe someone can sing a song for us so we can shift the blame of postseason (or regular season) failures to them…

Eddie Vedder has talent and compassion. Do you hear Ed saying anything back at Billy? No! Because Ed has style Billy has always been a complainer anyway. Well, if I was Billy I guess I would be jealous of Eddie too. Talent, looks, strong fan base oh and hair.
