It’s good to be the King.

And by King, I mean Editor of the world’s most powerful independent sports blog, the mighty mighty Deadspin.

Why? Well, besides being the face and name behind the most influential sports blog, there’s the oodles of fame, cash, groupies, future book deals, and lots of Buzz Bissinger expectorate.

Not good enough for you? How about the fact that you become a freakin’ World Series Good Luck Charm for your favorite team?

Here’s what I mean …

If the favorite baseball team of the Deadspin editor plays in the World Series during said , that team will win the World Series.

In 2006, St. Louis Cardinals fan Will Leitch was the editor of Deadspin.
In 2006, the Cardinals advanced to the World Series and defeated the Detroit Tigers in five games … with Leitch in attendance at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.

In 2008, Philadelphia Phillies fan A.J. Daulerio is the editor of Deadspin.
In 2008, the Phillies advanced to the World Series and defeated the Tampa Bay Rays in five games … with Daulerio in attendance at Citizens Bank Park in Philly.

Kinda freaky, huh?

Okay, you might say that happening twice is merely a coincidence … or that this is merely a instance of circumstantial luck and I’m guilty of pushing a fallacy called “Post hoc ergo propter hoc” or “false cause” …

But I think there’s something to it.

Congrats to the Phillies.
Congrats to Deadspin … the ultimate World Series Good Luck Charm.

Now, if we could only get a Cub fan in charge over at Deadspin.
