Philadelphia Phillies Jack O’Lanterns

Happy Halloween Everybody!!
One of the best things about the World Series is that it’s usually over by Halloween (except next year – stupid WBC), so people have time to show their love for their favorite baseball team on a Pumpkin.
The Philadelphia Phillies are your 2008 World Series Champion, so let’s see how their fans did in carving up some tributes to their Phavorite team …
First up we have a pair of carved P’s.

The P must stand for pathetic. Because those are so bad, they should be called Hack O’Lanterns.
These next two … well, let’s just say that slapping some paint on a pumpkin does not make it a Jack O’Lantern. I can think of a better custom Phillies Paint Job.

And this person is trying to sell that first one for $12.95?
Here’s a nice Liberty Bell. The second one might look like a profile of the Phillie Phanatic, but it’s actually something else. Can you guess what it is? One clue: EXTERMINATE!
I am such a nerd.
The toothpicks are a nice touch – but the cartoon pictures of the Phanatic and Mike Schmidt absolutely rock .
I like the reverse carved logo on the first one. That took some time and effort. And the second one has a decent “P” on it.

But the best part about #2 – it’s in a bar, watching over the booze. That Pumpkin’s got a job – Gotta like that.
Here’s the Phillies Pumpkin of the year.

That’s pretty sweet. That was carved by Barbara and John Randa.
Overall I was kinda disappointed in the Philllies Pumpkins. Other than the two intricate carvings of the Liberty Bell logo, there were only paint jobs and P’s. No Philly Phanatic. No Mike Schmidt mustache. No carvings of any current Phillies’ players faces.
The 2008 Red Sox pumpkins put them to shame, with Jack O’Lanterns of Mike lowell, Big Papi, Johnny Damon, and even Wally the Green Monster. I guess philly fans were busy going to games and knocking over TV Trucks this year.
So here’s the best pumpkin you’ll see all year. The Predator.
It’s the closest thing I could find to a Jack O’Lantern resembling the Phillie Phanatic.
