Cubs World Series Tickets: Do you dare to dream?
Posted by: Richie Rich in 2008 MLB Playoffs, Baseball Business, CubsThe Chicago Cubs are in the playoffs.
The Chicago Cubs have clinched the National League Central.
The Chicago Cubs have clinched Home Field Advantage throughout the National League Playoffs.
The Chicago Cubs have what is their best chance to reach and conceivably win their first World Series in 100 years. Goats and Black Cats be damned.
This is tempting fate … but here goes.
This is what Chicago Cubs 2008 World Series Tickets look like …

………Considering that a World Series at Wrigley Field is probably a once in a lifetime event … $190 to sit in the lower deck is a bargain.
Is it jumping the gun to share these with the world? Some might say it is.
Last year, Deadspin’s Will Leitch said that the existence of Cubs World Series tickets “mocks the natural order of the universe.”
But Leitch is a Cardinals fan, so indoor plumbing also qualifies as something outside “the natural order of the universe.”
Looking at them does in fact make me, as a Cub fan, nervous.
But not as nervous as last year.

I have a better chance of teabagging Cloris Leachman, than the Cubbies do of winning it all.

I feel you NastyEmu. I have Astros world series tickets for 2003, 2004, 2005 (used), and 2006. They wanted my money again this year but I told them to stick it; I’ve got a roof and fence to fix. I’m thinking about spending any extra money I might have on an Astros Chacon jersey and having Ed Wade autograph it. If he doesn’t, I’ll just choke slam that weasly little half-man.

I know Cloris. I’ll give her a call. Oh, by the way, Sons, she likes her balls smooth like a baby’s behind.

Genius: All playoff-bound teams print up World Series tickets, even the teams that are even sniffing the playoffs but aren’t in yet. As a season ticket holder you are required to buy all the games that are possible for each round. So, yes, that means World Series tickets too

Welcome back, Rich!
It is an odd thing to see those WS tickets in September. I passed on a chance to get the entire strip of Twins postseason tix this year. It’s tough to lay out $800/seat for all 11 potential dates…then should all games not be played, you’re basically loaning Rich Uncle Carl some money to earn interest on in the 3 months it takes to issue a refund.
Of course, on the flip side–Dome or Wrigley–I’d love to be there. Saw the Twins beat the Sox the last two nights. Fine baseball indeed.

Fiesta -
Saw your 2008 Prelim schedule over at Uniwatch.
I’m miffed you didn’t share that with me.
But then again, I’d been AWOL for some time.

I’m pretty sure these are photoshops. Section 201 is not the “Grandstand Outfield”, the bleacher seats are all 300 level, and section 201 is actually called “Terrace Reserved” at Wrigley.

You can’t get any closer to the Outfield than Section 201. It bumps up against the LF bleachers.

Yeah, also maybe they shouldn’t have been playing idiot Ron Santo shouting “THIS IS THE YEAR!” during every other Cubs radio broadcast commerical break for the last 3 months.
