Jersey of the Week - FUKUTHOME
Posted by: Richie Rich in Cubs, Jersey of the Week, Kosuke Fukudome, Uniforms, White SoxAnd here we go … a new feature here at Home Run Derby.
Baseball Jersey of the Week. We’re going to highlight the most creative personalized baseball jerseys/shirts we can find. And we’ll start with a good one …
In honor of the continuation of the White Sox vs Cubs Interleague Series (The Black and Blue Series) … here’s a Chicago Baseball fan who apparently has two favorite players in the Windy City. The Cubs’ Kosuke Fukudome and the White Sox’ Jim Thome.
FUKUTHOME !!

I love it. It’s a Frankenstein-like creation. Mind you, the name looks a little off center … but it’s pretty sharp and self explanatory to most knowledgeable baseball fans (which will exclude most of the overserved patrons in the Wrigley Bleachers during a Night Game.)
FUKUTHOME Jersey Rating:
- Cleverness: 8
- Originality: 10
- Understandability: 8
Does the guy have a matching White Sox jersey?
Home Run Derby would love your pics for Jersey of the Week.
Drop us a line right here.

That’s a Home Run Jersey to lead off this new and potentially exciting feature. I would have given it a 10 10 10, with a 10 in offensiveness and 10 in execution.
In fact, you could probably build a brand off of this idea, straight cash.
@ Buccos - really?

If someone was trying to show support for both the Sox and Cubs, and they had one of those half-and-half jerseys, with “Fuku” on the Cubs side and “Thome” on the Sox side, that could be funny. On the other hand, no one would ever do that in this city, and rightly so.

You actually might want to buy a vowel in the article, too…it’s “Fukudome.”

Showing support for both teams is a bozo no-no in this town.

Battlin Buccos: That was my thought too. No way is the guy a fan of both teams; he just likes the Cubs and hates Thome.

@JT I’m not sure he was “showing support for both teams” exactly. “Expressing a commonly held sentiment,” perhaps.

Leave it up to the fans on Craiglist. The shirts are already up for sale.

I think this jersey has taken on new heights of humor given that the person posting about it doesn’t even understand it! I’d bet my life this guy’s not a Sox or Thome fan. Idiots.

I can understand what this guys is trying portray. I hate the White Sox so much. I’m going to try to think of a t-shirt that shows how much I hate Hawk Harrelson. I can’t stand “HE GONE” and “YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD”…It just hurts my ears.

Oddly enough, there’s a lot of Indians memorabilia with the same name on the backs. Hmm…

FWIW, the number 1 appears to be centered on the T, the middle letter of this freakingly awesome hybridization.

Are you guys dumb enough to think he is supporting Thome here.
Fuk u Thome it’s pretty clear what his thougts are.
June 27th, 2008 at 7:58 pm
Well Damn. I’m an idiot.
I concede that it’s Fuk-U-Thome.
Joke’s on me and my Wrigley night game brothers.
Makes it even more clever.

We’ve been “saying” this in Cleveland for years.

I thought the original version was code for “fuck you, do me”.

Anyone that buys clothing with other teams names and logos on them just to make fun of them is a boner in my book. I saw a guy this weekend with one of those shirts where the guy is pissing on a Sox logo. Why would you want a shirt with a Sox logo on it if you were a Cubs fan? Or my favorite, Wrigley Field “World’s Largest Gay Bar.” Why would a Sox fan want to walk around with a huge picture of Wrigley on thier chest?

[...] Home Run Derby: This guy has created one of the most unique and clever baseball jerseys ever. Somehow though, I don’t think he’s a fan of Fukudome AND Thome; I think he’s trying to send a different kind of a message. [...]
