Joe Morgan can’t tell US Cellular Field from Wrigley Field
Posted by: Richie Rich in Announcers, Ballparks, Cubs, Joe Morgan, Jon Miller, White SoxSo last night, I got to watch some baseball for the first time in nearly a week … and it happened to be the White Sox vs the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
Awesome.
Oh wait … ESPN is broadcasting it. Joe Morgan. Crap.
My first thought was “how long does it take for Joe Morgan’s first blunder of the night?”
Two batters. Seven pitches. That’s all.
Here’s White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski at the plate in the top of the first inning. AJP’s a bit of a polarizing figure in Chicago, thanks to the scuffle he had with then-Cubs cather Michael Barrett in 2007 during a game at US Cellular Field …
“if that would have happened in - on the White Sox’ home field, they would have been standing and clapping for him”
Uhhh, Joe … that happened at the White Sox home field. And it has a name.
First of all, shouldn’t Morgan know the name of the White Sox home stadium as US Cellular Field? Or have some clue about the incident before talking about it? The white uniform Pierzynski was wearing in the clip might have been a giveaway too.
Does Jon Miller bang his head against the table in the booth with this guy every Sunday night or what?
Then again, Jon Miller couldn’t tell Carlos Lee from Derrek Lee last season.

Seriously, bro. WTF? This is frickin’ hilarious. I like the dramatic pause when Morgan can’t remember the name of the field. Good call picking up on this one! I watched the game too and didn’t even catch this!
Neither of these knuckleheads have a clue.

Jesus, he’s an idiot. When the Red Sox are on ESPN, I crank up the radio and mute the TV. It’s totally worth it having the audio be 3 seconds ahead of the video.
