Ken Griffey Junior … Missed it by that much

Ken Griffey Junior almost had Home Run #600 this afternoon.
There’s a lot of talk that baseball isn’t paying attention to Griffey’s quest for 600. Don’t tell that to Phillie Phans … who seemed to be rooting for Griffey to do it this afternoon.
Mind you the Phils were up 5-0 in the top of the ninth for that leadoff at-bat for Griffey. So it wouldn’t have hurt the Phils’ chances much.

Junior is going to eventually get 600. The question is how many homers he finishes his career with, which of course is dependant on where he finishes his career. Cinci is a much better homer park than others. I’m going to say 703. What do you guys think?

How about some props to the battery-throwin, Santa Claus booing, Michael Irvin broken neck cheering, cheesesteak eaters for once? The media is always trashing Philly fans for one thing or another, so why not a little love from the national media when they do something overwhelmingly classy like giving Junior a standing O after his at-bats in this series? (especially the last one)

It would have been more awesome had it gone out to center. Victorino said before the game he would love to jump the fence to get the ball and give it to Griffey.

Well now that Jr. hit his 600th homerun he is now 4th on the list. I absolutly do not count Barry Bonds or fellow cheater Sammy Sosa. In Sosa’s case whether you consider his cheating the fact that he used performance enhancing substances, or that in a MLB game he was caught using a corked bat, and was so shameless he blamed it on the poor bat boy. Why would a major league ball player have any buisiness having a corked bat at a game anyways. Please someone tell me why Bonds, or Sosa belong on such a coveted list as the 600 homerun club. {lease E-mail it to me at gibbs20@gmail.com, and while your at it explain why Sosa, Macguire, and Bonds who have all cheated during MLB games on a daily basis still have the opportunity to take place in baseball. Whether it be in the front office, hitting coach, or one of many jobs. While the best baseball player in history Pete Rose gets nothing, and I mean nothing!
