You knew this was coming …

Remember that slump Geovany Soto was in? The one in which he had eight straight at-bats for Strikeouts, including the dubious Platinum Sombrero (0-5, 5 K’s) on Saturday?

Geovany Soto blasts the Brewers for the Home Run of the Day

The Slump is over.

One could say it was over Tuesday night when Soto went 2 for 4 … but that could have been an anomaly.  Two three-run Home Runs in a 19-5 Cubbie plastering of the Brewers last night is no anomaly.

BallHype: hype it up!

The Cubbies are out of control!

They offense can’t keep this up forever and the pitching is always a roller coaster in Chi-town… but right now a Red Sox vs Cubs WS is looking the a very real possibility!

  2. Richie Rich says:

    Zambrano just went yard.

  3. Dorasaga says:

    Guys,

Shouldn’t Owings earn the homer of the day for pinch-hit as a starting pitcher, induced the opponent to bring out a lefty reliever to deal with him, but still roped that very first pitch he saw?

I would call that the day.

  4. Sav says:

    Since Soto’s 8th K, he’s 8-20 w/ 4 doubles, 2 homers, 3 walks and 9 RBI.

    That’s a 1.378 OPS.

  5. Sav says:

Soto now 12-26 with 6 doubles, 3 homers and 5 walks since the 8 Ks.

I think he’s gotten over it.

    Sav,

I think you mean to post this at the Golden Sombrero article. Not here. And yes, Soto is not only having a great week but an outstanding year to date.

Still, there aren’t too many players in the history of the Majors that struck out 8 times in a row. The point wasn’t that Soto sucks, It was that Soto did something rarely seen.

    Get over it.

  7. Sav says:

You’re a bit too sensitive. I didn’t say anything about your post. I just think it’s amazing that Soto’s been able to destroy the ball right after the streak.

  8. Nick the Greek says:

    Nah, not sensitive at all.

    Congrats to Soto.
