The St. Louis Cardinals received their World Series Bling about a week ago - they even had a fancy little ceremony in which St. Louis manager Tony LaRussa (presumably sober) handed out their rings.  The Cardinals promptly went out and got themselves humbled by the New York Mets, getting swept and outscored 20-2 in the three games on their home turf of Busch Stadium.Â
Since then, they’ve gone 3-1 vs the underacheiving Astros and the overacheiving Pirates thanks to some good pitching. But check out the Cardinals’ hitting stats so far this season.Â
| AVG | OBA | SPct | OPS | AB/HR | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cardinals | 0.223 | 0.287 | 0.330 | 0.617 | 74.67 |
| MLB Averages | 0.253 | 0.327 | 0.395 | 0.722 | 38.86 |
Pujols started 1 for 17 (.059 BA) before turning it up a notch the past two games (up to .200 BA) and Duncan is the only Cardinal hitting over .300 so far. The Cards have hit a total of three (3) Home Runs as compared to the MLB average of 5.7 HR.
Someone needs to find a Hobbit (is David Eckstein available?) and have him throw one of those rings into the cracks of Mount Doom (or at least the Mississippi River) to see if that will right the ship for the Cardinals.

I really am not surprised at all the Cubs fans using HRD as a medium to release their pent up jealousy over the beautiful World Championship Trophy the Cardinals won last year. It is hard to imagine what 98 years without a World Series win can do to a team’s fans.
You all shouldn’t feel so bad. The Cubs aren’t even in the top 10 on ESPN’s Pain and Suffering Scale:

Also not surprising, the Cardinals, even with the dismal batting as discussed above, have a one game lead over the last place Cubs and their multi-million dollar offseason spending spree.

Aren’t you the Cards fan (aka douchebag) who started the bashing by posting a 20MB trash talk comment (that you obviously clipped from somewhere else) after the Wrigley Field post?
And just to clear things up … Go Red Sox!

Judging from yesterday’s start, Jeff Weaver’s ring is the equivalent of the Tiki idol from the Brady Bunch Hawaii episodes.
