Once sat directly behind Harry as he broadcast from Wrigley left-field bleachers.

Made separate spot on my scorecard to track how many Budweisers he’d down over the 9 sun-drenched innings.

Tally was 4.
Observed no scotch.
And he refused an Old Style that a fan bought for him.

I think Harry stuck to a bit more than just Budweiser in that booth.
My guess is it was laced with Scotch.

Growing up in St. Louis listening to Harry, I thought baseball announcers were supposed to drink a case of the owner’s product each game. But the best story about HC was when he was with the Cubs and I think Davey Concepcion muffed an infield pop up at Wrigley. I know this isn’t verbatim
