So the Mitchell Report is coming out today at 2PM Eastern Time …
And names will be named. The New York Times says that “high level MVP’s and All-Stars” will be named within the highly anticipated report, and that …
“MLB’s not going to love it, the union’s not going to love it”
I imagine baseball fans aren’t going to love it either. Especially if their favorite player’s name is in it.
Which begs a question - Who do YOU not want to see on the Mitchell Report this afternoon?
I’ll go first.
I will be CRUSHED if Jim Thome’s name is on that report.
I have no reason to think that he will be on the report, but seeing his name linked with performance enhancing drugs would be like a sucker punch given to you by your most trusted friend.
And I will throw my Jim Thome autographed baseball out the window.
Please leave any names you want to in the comments.
Thanks in advance.

Rich Garces (El Guapo), obviously.
Maddux would be a big disappointment and shock. The guy’s supposed to be the mad professor who outwits hitter, not a flamethrower who’d need the juice. Then again, he’s been around forever . . .
Wouldn’t Manny Ramirez be the one player for whom the excuse “Hey, I didn’t know what I was taking” would completely work?

The bad news is that I’ve seen Garces’ name in two preliminary lists.
One non-reputable, one reputable.

Albert Pujols.
Anyone but Albert Pujols.

Ken Griffey Jr. as he’s been my favorite player forever and I’d hate to toss out his autograph in disgust.

I will be pissed if David Ortiz is mentioned

I would hate to see Griffey, Pujols, or Thome. I grew up watching Griffey and Thome, and Pujols on the list would just be more misery on the current state of my beloved Cardinals.

For me, it is the one guy who staked his reputation on fighting the union on this, almost leading the entire White Sox team to deliberately miss their tests when MLB was in the first stages of testing.
That protest would have been considered postive tests to help push the cumulative results past the threshold to guarnteee that testing move forward. Yes, I am talking about the Big Hurt, Frank Thomas.
His inclusion would crush me.

Frank Thomas is listed in the report …
But he’s listed as being a help to the investigation.

But I am disturbed by the following inclusion …
F.P. Santangelo!!

I’m very disappointed that Santangelo is included, he was my favorite utility man from 3DO’s Sammy Sosa High Heat Baseball. Who knew that of the two players in that sentence Frank-Paul would be the one on the list?
