Chief Wahoo has sour grapes
Posted by: Richie Rich in 2007 MLB Playoffs, Indians, Mascots, Red SoxSo it’s been about a week since the Cleveland Indians blew a three-one series lead in the American League Championship Series and lost in seven games to the Boston Red Sox.
And now, to make matters that much more heartbreaking – the Red Sox are up three games to none over the Rockies in the World Series.
That seems to be all the time it took for the Indians’ embattled mascot, smilin’ Chief Wahoo to move from the stage of denial and compose himself … and grant a quick interview.
However, Wahoo doesn’t seem to be quite over the most recent chapter in Cleveland sports heartbreak. The Chief has some interesting words about the Red Sox’ rise to glory and then directs some leftover vitriol at dancin’ Jonathan Papelbon.
But the changing emotions on Chief Wahoo’s face are the best part.
Oh, come on Chief – just because a big percentage of America wants your team to scrap you as their mascot doesn’t mean you have to direct that frustration towards the team that took three straight from your Tribe.
Hey Chief – you can still buy some Cleveland Indians World Series tickets on eBay. No, really – they’re good. Don’t mind those games going on in Boston and Colorado.
And besides, it could be worse. You could be a Cub fan. 99 Years and counting.
