The fact that more than 83% of Major League baseball teams have won a pennant since the Cubs hoisted on in 1945 (and that three of them have been around for 14 years or less) is just f-ing staggering.

And depressing.</description>

just havin' a little fun at my buddy richie's expense.  Really just finishing a thought he started anyway. You have to admit, regardless of the white sox vs cubs family fued side show, the statistics are staggering.  The cubs have more in common with the devil rays, nationals, rangers and mariners then with many of the old time teams like the red sox, giants, reds, a's, dodgers, tigers etc.  Is it bad luck and curses, or poor organizational identity/strategy? The fact the 83% of teams in the majors have played in the world series and 70% have won one since the cubs last played in one is significant.
I think I need to take a look at some of the more recent stats, say the last 20 years, and see what kind of story it tells.</description>
