Are the Brewers Pissing it all away? It’s been a pretty excruciating week to be a fan of the Chicago Cubs.

But it’s turned out to be a worse week if you’re a fan of the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Cubs started the week with things looking pretty rosy in the quest for the 2007 National League Central championship.

  • A three and a half game lead over a mini-slumping Brewers team.
  • A day of rest on Monday.
  • Six games against also-rans Florida (66-90) and Cincinnati (71-85).
  • A magic number of four.

Then things started to look up for the Brewers

Wrong. Because the Brewers couldn’t win. On Wednesday, St. Louis took a beaning of Albert Pujols and rammed it up the Brewers’ Poo-Holes. And then on Thursday the Brewers committed five errors in losing to a playoff contending Padres team.

The Chicago Cubs are going to win the National League Central. Why?

Pee your Pants for the BrewersBlame Pee Your Pants for the Brewers. Back on May 9, the aforementioned Deadspin discovered the Brewers’ fansite which wanted long-suffering Brewers fans to pledge to empty their bladders when the Brewers clinched a playoff berth.

Effectively jinxing the Brewers.

You think printing advance playoff tickets is bad?  Try telling your ballclub you’re going to have thousands of people letting it all go (without using urinals) if they make the playoffs.

It must have been the building pressure on the Brewers to try to relieve the building pressure within the bladders of 6,631 (at last count) Brewer fans hoping to see the Brewers end a 25-year playoff dry spell, because since that fateful May 9 (when the Brewers were a league-best 24-10 and Pee Your Pants pledges skyrocketed from 116 to 4,000+ in a matter of days) the Brewers have gone 57-68 and fallen from the NL Central lead.

Coincidence? Puh-lease.

The Brewers 2007 NLDS ticketHey look! A playoff ticket the Brewers will have to refund!

.

By the way, HRD kinda did this post already back in May. We thought it was relevant to revamp it.

Ballhype: hype it up!

    Goat Lover -

No, I’d say the Cubs crapped their drawers this week.
