The 2007 Cy Young Awards were worth about $5 Million

Not to mention your wallet getting fatter from the contract incentives for winning one.

C.C. Sabathia won the 2007 American League Cy Young Award.  He’s also going to get a  Two Million dollar raise

Sabathia, 19-7 with a 3.21 ERA, received a $2.25 million bump in pay by winning the Cy Young.  He gets a $250,000 bonus and will earn $11 million in 2008 instead of $9 million.

That’s a lot of Cheeseburgers.

Jake Peavy won the 2007 National League Cy Young AwardUnanimously.  His 2009 Option year just increased by Three Million Dollars

As part of contract negotiations with Jake Peavy a few years ago, the Padres agreed to add $3 million to Peavy’s 2009 salary if Peavy won the Cy Young Award.
