1992 Flashback: Brewers get 31 hits vs the Blue Jays

Last week, the Baltimore Orioles gave up 30 runs in a ballgame to the Texas Rangers. The visiting Rangers got 29 hits in the contest.
That’s a lot. But it’s not the most I remember.
That spurred my memory banks to a game 15 years ago when the Brewers went North of the Border and put a 22-2 ass-whupping on the Blue Jays.
The Brewers cranked out 31 Hits that night. The most hits in a game since 1932. Here’s some of them now …
What’s amazing is that only one of those 31 Hits was a Home Run.
The Jays also walked seven Brewers. 38 Baserunners. Despite one error, all 22 runs were earned. The Blue Jays’ starting piitcher, Jimmy Key only pitched 1 and 2/3 innings and only gave up three hits - but he walked three.
Nine Brewers had multiple hits. Five of them had three or more. Paul Molitor had three with 4 RBI and a Homer. Scott Fletcher and Kevin Seitzer had five hits … each. Only Dave Nilsson (the backup catcher) didn’t have a hit for the Brew Crew that night - think he got a ribbing in the clubhouse afterwards?
But let’s not forget that the Blue Jays had the last laugh in 1992, eh?
